NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Oct. 8, 2005.  Although the four formal lectures have been wrapped up, there are still a few potential meetings remaining.  (1) Those who are planning to graduate this semester need to do a presentation, to which everyone is invited.  (2) If requested, I can do a formal lecture on just about any topic you can think of relating to IS research and the sorts of projects you are doing.  (3) Any student in this course who wishes to spend some time with me reviewing their proposal or studying something related to the work you are doing is encouraged to make an appointment with me to do so.  (4) You all have supervisors now; please get copies of the contracts to me quickly so that I can review them and evaluate the feasibility.

If any of you find interesting material on any of the methods you are using (case studies, proof of concept, scenario planning, for example) and you have web links, I can post them here.

Sept. 29, 2005.  Interest in scenarios has prompted me to put some materials on our website about Scenario Planning.  Click through to the scenario planning presentation and additional materials. These are also available via the third lecture.

In addition, although proposals are due on Mon. Oct 3 for those registered in this course for the fall, the purpose of having this proposal is to provide you with an idea of what you'll be doing and to help select and engage a supervisor.  Clearly there will be some changes, perhaps many, especially for those who are going to be doing the work next semester.  Time is short and we want very much to avoid "scope drift", right?

Sept. 12, 2005.  Welcome to our course.  If at any time you have any questions, just send me email.  Watch these spaces for announcements, especially announcements about project presentations, to which you are all invited.
