COMPENSABLE FACTORS AND WEIGHTS

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITY

1.

Complexity-Judgement (Decision-Making)

Weighting: 15%

 

Measures the level of complexity, judgement and decision-making inherent in a position.

2.

Contacts and Working Relationships

Weighting: 12.5%

 

Measures the types, importance, intended outcomes of the contacts and working relationships required to perform the responsibilities of a position. It also measures the skill level required to be effective in dealing with contacts and working relationships.

Education Weighting:

Weighting: 15%

 

Identifies and measures the minimum level of education and/or formalized training that is necessary to fulfill the requirements of a position at the point of hire.

Experience

Weighting: 12.5%

 

Identifies and measures the minimum length of time necessary to acquire the essential techniques, skills and abilities to fulfill the requirements of a position at the point of hire.

EFFORT AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Initiative - Independence of Action

Weighting: 11%

 

Measures the responsibility and degree of freedom to initiate/direct activity that is inherent in a position. Initiative takes into account the supervision received and how much control is inherent in the job. Initiative acknowledges the ingenuity, creative imagination and original thought expected in the job.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Potential Impact of Decisions

Weighting: 10%

 

Measures the effect and seriousness of potential errors in judgement or action inherent in performing the requirements of a position.

Character of Supervision

Weighting: 10%

 

Measures the degree and type of supervisory responsibility/functional guidance inherent in a position.

7b.

Span of Control

Weighting: 6%

 

Measures the total numbers of full time equivalent staff for which the position has direct line supervisory responsibility.

EFFORT:

Physical/Sensory Demands

Weighting: 4%

 

Measures the degree and severity of physical effort and sensory attention required of the job.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions

Weighting: 4%

 

Identifies and measures the exposure to undesirable/disagreeable environmental conditions or hazards under which the work is performed.
